About Flames of Fire Ministry International

A Calling to Carry the Fire

Flames of Fire Ministry International was born from a simple but burning desire: to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who need to hear it and to help equip others to carry that Gospel farther.
After years of serving in their home church, Larry and Marla Johnson answered the call to full-time missions.

From One Assignment to a Global Mission
What began with a call to serve actually encompasses a ministry reaching across Guatemala, Honduras, Central America, Kenya, and other nations.
Today, Flames of Fire Ministry ministers through:

  • Evangelism and Gospel outreaches

  • Church planting and construction

  • Feeding centers for hungry children and families

  • Pastor and leadership training

  • Ministry training schools

  • Medical and humanitarian outreaches

  • Local church ministry

  • Short-term mission teams

  • Discipleship and equipping national leaders

Our heart has always been to reach the whole person. We believe the Gospel changes lives spiritually, but the love of Jesus should also compel us to respond to physical and practical needs.
Reaching People. Equipping Leaders. Building the Kingdom.
Larry and Marla have a deep passion for the local pastor and the national church.

In many remote mountain communities, pastors have had little opportunity for formal biblical training. Some will travel for hours—sometimes walking four to six hours—to receive teaching and encouragement.
We believe in equipping those who are already reaching their own people.
When a pastor is strengthened, a church is strengthened.
When a church is strengthened, a community is changed.
And when local leaders are equipped, the Gospel can continue moving forward long after we leave.

A Ministry of Partnership
Flames of Fire Ministry is not about what one couple can accomplish.
It is about what God can do when His people say yes.
We are grateful for the churches, individuals, pastors, mission organizations, teams, and ministry partners who have prayed, given, traveled, served, and stood with us through the years.
Every feeding center, church plant, pastor trained, village reached, medical outreach, and soul won to Jesus is a testimony to the power of partnership.

The Fire Is Still Burning
There are still villages to reach.
Pastors to equip.
Churches to plant.
Hungry children to feed.
Leaders to raise up.
And people who have yet to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Our vision remains the same:
**Reach the Lost.
Feed the Hungry.
Equip the Called.
Build the Church.
Ignite the Fire.**
We believe the best is still ahead—and we are honored to keep carrying the fire wherever God sends us.
The harvest is ready.
The nations are waiting.
And the fire must spread.

Statement of Faith

Flames of Fire Ministry International accepts the Scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and adheres to these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

§  The Scriptures Inspired    We believe that the Bible, Old and New Testament, is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior  to conscience and reason.  (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12)

§  The Godhead   We believe there is one true God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, eternally existent, and manifested in three distinct persons….the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (the Trinity).    (Matt. 28:19; Gen. chap 1, John chap 1)

§  The Fall of Man   We believe that man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.”  But, man, by voluntary transgression, fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but spiritual death.   (Gen. 1:26-31, 3:1-7, Ro. 5:12-21)

§  The Salvation of Man  We believe in the death of Jesus Christ as a sin sacrifice for humanity, His resurrection into life and His ascension to the right hand of the Father.  Man’s only hope of redemption is through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  Salvation is received through repentance toward God and confession of Jesus as Lord.  (Ps. 103:3; Ro. 10:9-13)

§  The Evidences of Salvation   We believe that the inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Ro. 8:16).  The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.  (Eph. 4:21-24)

§  Grace, Faith, and Works   We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works; it is the gift of God.  Our works, however, will determine the rewards in eternity.  (Rom. 10:9-10, 2 Cor. 5:10, Eph. 2:8)

§ The Church  The church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin.  We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.  (Eph. 1:22; 2:19-22; Heb. 12:23)

§  Baptism in Water   We believe that the ordinance of baptism by immersion should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures by all who have repented and in their hearts have truly believed on Christ as Saviour and Lord.  In so doing, they declare to the world that they identify with Jesus as their Saviour and are raised to the newness of life. (Matt. 28:19; Acts 10:47, 48; Ro. 6:4)

§  Communion   We believe that the Lord’s Supper is an ordinance to the church and the symbolic reminder of Jesus’ suffering and our redemption.  The bread represents his body, which was broken for our total physical and emotional healing and well-being.  The cup represents his blood, which was shed for the remission of our sins.  (1 Cor. 11:24-28)

§  The Baptism With the Holy Spirit    We believe that all Christians are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek, the promise of the Father, the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.  With this experience comes the endowment of power for life and service.  (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8)   This wonderful experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.   (Acts 2:38; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 19:1-6)

§  The Evidence of Being Filled with the Spirit   We believe that the initial physical sign of being filled with the Spirit is speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, as well as the subsequent manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service.   (Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, 10:44-46, 19: 2-6)

§  Total Prosperity    We believe that prosperity touching every facet of life is available to the believer through faith in God’s promises.
Spiritual Restoration       Jn 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17-21; Ro. 10:9-10
Emotional Peace             2 Tim. 1:7; Ro. 12:2; Is. 26:3
Physical Healing & Health   Is. 53:4-5; Mat. 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24
Financial Abundance         3 Jn 1:2; Mal.3:10-11;Lk 6:38; 2 Cor. 9:-6-10
Social Well-Being           Prov. 3:3-4, Ps. 115:12-15

§  The Blessed Hope  We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus to gather all Christians to live with Him forever.  This rapture of the church is our blessed hope. (1 Cor. 15:51-52, 1 Thes. 4:16-17; 2 Thes. 2:1)

§  The Millennial Reign of Jesus  We believe there will be a literal return of our Lord Jesus Christ with His saints from heaven after the tribulation period to rule and reign for one thousand years on earth.  (Ro. 11:25, 27; 2 Thes. 1:7-10, Rev. 19:11-16; 20:1-7)  After this, there shall be a new heaven and a new earth.

§  Final Judgment   We believe that the final judgment will take place for those who have rejected Christ.  They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a lake of fire.  (Rev. 19:20, 20:10-15)
